Nobel peace prize winner and South African anti-apartheid campaigner Archbishop Desmond Tutu has returned home on Wednesday after he was admitted at a hospital for three weeks in Cape Town.
His family said in a statement that he is recovering back to full health after undergoing a minor surgery for a recurring infection.
“Mrs Leah Tutu said she was overjoyed to welcome her husband home, and promised she’d be doing everything within her power to nurture him back to full health,” they said.
The 84-year-old underwent similar treatment last year and hospitalized three times for what his foundation said is a prostate cancer treatment he has been receiving for nearly 20 years.
Desmond Tutu has been a supporter of gay rights.
